| So, no one probably reads this anymore since I never update it. And I shouldn't be updating it right now because I have a million and one things to do and I don't really have time, but oh well...I'll just spend two minutes. Counting the paper I turned in last night, I have (had) 4 papers to write before Monday. So I worked forever last night and I've got it down to 2 1/2 final papers to go before Monday (and 225 pages to read in one book, 3 chapters in another, etc...) It's a fun time of year.
The good news is, all the madness ends in two weeks. Seriously. I should be done in two weeks if my geology professor lets me take my exam early so that I can get to Michael's Graduation. Otherwise, it's a few days longer than that, but with nothing extra to do in that time, so still not too bad. Now, only if I can make it til Monday...
| All these years, too many ahead to think clear, Some say, "Where's my crystal ball?" Some men play the lottery, making bets against the government's economy, They say, " I'd rather be rich than be alive at all." When men in miry circumstances fall, It won't be hard to tell where they place their resolve. Some trust in chariots, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God,
'To each his own' won't lead you home it probably,
Probably never will. Picket fences, may build up our defences,
In domestic wars of leisure suits,
Well hey, that's okay it doesn't bother me, you can hold on to your philosophy of,
"What's mine is mine, what's yours is yours", but what's the truth?
When the walls they crumble and they fall, It won't be hard to tell where we place our resolve.
| This morning, I had the opportunity to see two of Rob Bell's nooma films. One of the things that really struck me (apart from the central messages of each film) was that God doesn't play favorites. He loves the child molester just as much as he loves the paster. He loves the college student who makes time to read their Bible everyday just as much as the college student who has abandoned God and lived the most reckless lifestyle. As Acts 10:34 says, "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism."
So to all you who feel far from God right now: God doesn't care who you are or what you've done, he loves you just as much. Nothing you could ever do would make him love you less.
If you find this discouraging because you've worked so hard to be Christ-like: we all have our faults--big or small--don't be discouraged and don't fall into that trap of judging others, but be humble. Remember what James said, "My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Christ, don't show favoritism...because judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment."
| So I just saw the CD graphic below and remembered that I'm still obsessed with David Gray's "Be Mine" AKA I started playing it ten seconds ago when I was reminded that I hadn't played it in a couple days. It's still good.
This weekend was really nice. I know I haven't updated in forever and that I really have several weekends to bring you up to date on, but we'll stick with this weekend b/c I really don't even have time for the little bit of xanga that I'm going to do anyway.
Friday, Ariel and I left right after classes and lunch and stopped at the BMV (that's right, Ohio has a Bureau of Motor Vehicles instead of a Department) to get Ariel a new licence for her 21st birthday. After that, we headed out past the worldest biggest basket to the middle of nowhere Ohio, where for some reason a ginormous dress store exists in what used to be an old train depot. There was a huge wedding dress section and I got to play dress-up and found one dress in particular that was really beautiful, but I was really just looking and it wasn't THE dress anyway. It was a fun adventure and then Ariel and I were going to stop in this little town and go to this 50's style diner that she knew about to get these amazing milkshakes she told me about, but they were closed till March, so that was a disapointment.
Back here, Alex and I went over to Claire's to meet everyone to go out to celebrate Liz's belated 21st birthday. I drove one of the cars over to Easton and we all had yummy Mexican food at Abeula's (or however you spell grandparents in Spanish) and I stuffed myself full of chips and salsa before my chicken fajitas came and Nick and Eric amused us all by eating and dissecting hot peppers. I had a kiddie marjarita and it was delicious...mmmm....
I went to bed early since my parents and Keary were stopping by early in the morning (7:30) on their way home from Florida. So I just took a quick tour of the Lamba balloon party with Alex (aka mono) before we came back here where I finished a cross word puzzle and watched the end of the Olympic figure skating gala and talked to David and went to bed.
Early the next morning, the fam showed up and we went to River Road for breakfast. It was so nice to see them and just sit around and talk for a bit. My coffee was delicious (mmm vanilla latte) but I will have to warn you all, the multigrain bagel at RR has rye in it...not what I was suspecting and not what I would recommend. After they left, I did some homework and went for a run and showered and went for a Target/grocery run with Alison and I got a new purse! (very exciting)
Last night was fun too...just a good weekend I suppose. I went over to Shafer's and Za picked-up Chinese food for us and we sat cross-legged around Shafer's little asian table and ate Chinese and watched a movie. And then ate some Ben and Jerry's. I came back here to study for my geology exam later on and then Alison and I cracked open the wine we bought at the store and sat around and just chatted. I am a big fan of Yellow Tail's Shiraz...yum yum.
So now it's Sunday and I've written a novel and I'm only closer and closer to my geology exam tomorrow. I still have to study and run and tutor and go to the geo review session and then church and then DH/Grey's...ah, where does the time go?
